Kingsland Bay Loop

Kingsland Bay Loop This loop is located in the Vergennes, Vermont area. Total length: 13.3 miles, Time: approx. 1 hr. (Depending on your physical condition and abilities), All paved roads.

start The route begins in downtown Vergennes at the stoplight (0.0 mi.). Follow 22A southwest to the blinking light (0.1 mi.).

right turnTurn right onto Macdonough Drive follow approximately another 0.2 miles.

right turnTurn right onto Comfort Hill St. (0.3 mi.), begin a climb, Comfort Hill St. turns into Botsford Road.

Continuing north over the crest of the hill (0.7 mi.) views of the Adirondack Mountains appear. The rest of this ride has very few elevation changes.

slight left turnBearing to the left at the Y interection (1.8 mi.) on Botsford Rd. you soon come to the intersection with Little Chicago Road (2.6 mi.).stop

At this intersection ride straight ahead onto Hawkins Rd. This is a beautiful ride through the Little Otter State Widlife Management Area (4.6 mi.). and passes Kingsland Bay State Park, a popular place to swim and picnic. At Kingsland Bay State Park Hawkins Rd. meets Sand Rd. (6.1 mi), following Sand Rd. south brings you back to Macdonough Dr. and Vergennes.

Upon entering Vergennes there are great views of the waterfalls (12.8 mi.) on the right.

left turnTurn left on to Battery Hill St. (13.0 mi) and make a difficult climb to North St. (13.1 mi.).

left turnTurn left on North St. and follow to North Green St. (13.2 mi.).

right turnTurn right on N. Greeen St. and pedal to stoplight (13.3 mi.). The End

This is a very nice country ride through mostly open fields with some views of Lake Champlain waterways, Green Mountains, Adirondack Mountians and the Otter Creek. I've seen deer, blue heron and hawks on this ride.
